Tamworth Old Players Society (TOPS)
On 20 September 1991 Tamworth Old Players Society (TOPS) was officially formed and 45 members joined. The proposed 310 yearly subscription continues to this day and there are now 80 members. Membership has also been opened up to friends and supporters of the three playing sections but they have no voting rights.
The original minimum age for joining TOPS was set at 40 years but this has now been reduced to 35.
The intention of TOPS was to encourage friendship and contact beyond their playing days. We now have annual dinners, lunches, golf tournaments, walks, quiz nights, garden visits and occasional visits to concerts, race meetings, cricket matches and wine and cheese evenings.
TOPS have supported Tamworth Hockey Club over the past 20 years by buying carpets and curtains for the lounge, providing money towards toilet and kitchen improvements, and paid for the material for fencing. TOPS have also provided financial help for young players.
