Tamworth Hockey Club will be participating in the first ever Fitness Festival in the Castle Grounds, Tamworth.
Plans for this summer's first Tamworth Fitness Festival have been gathering momentum with many of the town's sporting clubs, activity-based groups and schools getting involved.
The event is due to take place in the Castle Grounds on Saturday, June 4 and organisers are now in the process of formulating a timetable for the day, which will promote sporting clubs and encourage health and fitness.
Staffordshire PCT, Stoneydelph Boys Football Club, Cottage Farm, Tamworth Amateur Boxing Club, RM Cycling and Tamworth Cricket are also involved.
"We are now in the process planning things for the day – we want to make this a real community games event."
The Lambs, plus Tamworth's cycling, volleyball and rugby clubs, are also signed up. And, to make the day a real community event, the likes of Tamworth Male Voice Choir, NRG Steetdance, Tamworth Zumba and Tamworth Fire Station will also be involved.
"The interest in the event has been fantastic," said one of the organisers, Helen Foster.
"So many clubs have asked to get involved that we will be using both sides of the Castle Grounds.
"We are now in the process planning things for the day – we want to make this a real community games event.
"We are working with the motto: 'Live local, play local and support local.'
"This day will be a great opportunity for Tamworth folk and sports clubs to interact."
