The Ladies First team made a great recovery from last week's loss to win against local derby team, Burton this week. Although Tamworth started off strong, they were unfortunate to go one nil down from a Burton short corner very early in to the first half. Tamworth's team work and determination worked excellently and they were soon having a number of opportunities.
Laura Webb aided Tamworth to the victory with 2 goals, one coming from a great build up from the half way with Claire Hicks and Rebecca Popple. Rebecca Popple provided the third goal from a short corner, as captain, making sure Tamworth had a comfortable win.
Tamworth dominated the second half of the game, looking more and more capable of the good wins that were obtained last season. Jo Goode had an outstanding game, working tirelessly throughout and the team were very happy to have Alex Banks return from injury to provide a dominating presence on the forward line. The ladies are looking forward to carrying their momentum in to next weeks game against Bournville. |
