Match Report |
Tamworth maintained their 100% record on Saturday with a 3-1 win over local rivals Lichfield. The town side made a positive start putting Lichfields defence under immediate pressure, but they were unable to capitalise on the chances created mainly due to Lichfields goal keeper who made a number of excellent saves. As the half went on the town’s opponents grew in confidence and Tamworth’s form dipped a little as they struggled to play their normal flowing passing game and the town were indebted to their own keeper Margaret Worsley who made some vital clearances. The deadlock was finally broken late on in the half when Claire Miles struck the ball home to give Tamworth the lead. Lichfield equalised early in the second half and this spurred Tamworth on as they started to pass the ball around with a little more confidence and were rewarded with two fine goals from Elaine Foxley.
