Match Report | After securing promotion to Staffordshire Division 2 a couple of weeks ago the ladies thirds bounced back from last week’s defeat to be crowned champions on Saturday with a brilliant performance against third placed Bloxwich winning 6-0. The town side started positively and had Bloxwich pinned back in their own half from the off, passing the ball around in style and only some superb keeping from the Bloxwich goalkeeper kept out efforts form Di Milner, Kate Barton and Elaine Foxley, Fiona Wylie also hit the post before the deadlock was finally broken ten minutes before half time with Becky Busby the quickest to react after Claire Miles initial shot was saved, as she picked up the rebound to slot the ball into the net. In the second half Tamworth continued to dominate with Bloxwich unable to cope with the towns passing and movement, wing backs Chris Mander and Sarah Price both had excellent games supporting the attacks. Tamworth’s pressure finally told and they got the rewards their play deserved as they scored five more times, Di Milner, Elaine Foxley, Fiona Wylie and Claire Miles (2) all getting on the score sheet. This has been an incredible season for the ladies thirds a real team effort, they have topped the table from the first game, having lost only one game all season scoring 96 league goals along the way, Saturday they hope to finish the season in style as they host Barton in their final league game .......11am start at QEMS. |
