Match Report |
The ladies thirds returned to action after the Christmas break with an excellent win over Burton on Saturday. The match was evenly contested with both sides playing good hockey. Claire Miles broke the deadlock after 20 minutes with a short corner strike, soon after Kate Barton and Becky Busby combined well down the right to set up Di Milner who hit a brilliant first time shot into the bottom corner to give the town a 2-0 half time lead. Burton responded superbly at the start of the second session scoring twice in the opening four minutes. Tamworth had to dig deep with Burton now in the ascendancy, but they weathered the storm and started to pass the ball around in style scoring three times in quick succession to put the game out of reach of Burton, Claire Miles, Di Milner and Elaine Foxley all on the score sheet. There were many good performances with Di Milner voted POM |
