Match Report

The ladies thirds faced their toughest test of the season so far in this friendly match against Nuneaton on Saturday.  Tamworth were immediately put on the back foot by a strong and well organised team and only some strong defending from Sarah Price, Lisa Moore, Lesley Broadway, Linda Harrison and Sam Bowyer and superb goal keeping from Margaret Worsley kept the Nuneaton forwards at bay.  Eventually Nuneaton’s pressure paid off as they took the lead, Tamworth started to get back in the game and Alex Gayton equalised for the town side following good work from Fiona Wylie.  Claire Miles then gave Tamworth the lead although this was short lived as Nuneaton equalised just before the break to go in all square.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first although the town side did look dangerous on the break with both Di Milner and Kathryn Adams going close to restoring their lead.  Claire Miles scored Tamworth’s third with a fine individual goal to give Tamworth the lead and they held on for a rather fortunate victory. The thirds return to league action Saturday with an away trip to Leek.
