Tamworth came back into the game more following the goal however Stafford doubled their lead when from a penalty corner Tony Banks denied the initial shot and the first rebound but was beaten by the third shot. In the second half Tamworth finally got a foothold in the game and as Stafford backed off Town went on the attack which resulted in a number of penalty corners and from one of these Tom Sperrink struck a shot inside the near post.
