Match Report | Tamworth Men’s First XI lost 6-2 away against Bromsgrove. Tamworth had started well as they kept promotion chasing Bromsgrove at bay for much of the first half, restricting them to few chances from open play. The hosts however did take the lead with a goal from a penalty corner however this was the only goal of the first period in which neither team created much of note. In the second half Bromsgrove continued to attack and as Tamworth tired and became more stretched they were exposed and conceded too many penalty corners as Bromsgrove scored three more from set pieces. Tamworth pulled a goal back when Ryan Brisco’s strike from the left was deflected in by Tom Sperrink to reduce the deficit to 4-1 but Bromsgrove added two more, one an unstoppable shot from a penalty corner and a goal from open play with a hit from the right of the D. Tom Grimshaw grabbed his second goal of the season when he struck a sweet first time shot following a save from the keeper but Tamworth will need to regroup before their game against Bloxwich next week when they hope man of the match goalkeeper Tony Banks will not be quite as busy. |
