Match Report | Tamworth Men’s First XI’s home woes continued as they suffered a 5-4 defeat to Redditch. Tamworth had got off to the perfect start when Tom Grimshaw drove into the D and struck a powerful shot beyond the visiting keeper. Town then kept the pressure on in the early stages however Redditch gradually grew into the match and they scored twice to take a 2-1 lead into the break as they took advantage when Tamworth were down to ten men as James Goode was sin binned. Redditch started as they had left off and with Tamworth going down to ten men for a second time they extended their lead to 5-1 as they picked Tamworth with pacey counter attacking play. Tamworth attempted a comeback and Ben Popple continued his scoring streak with two goals, the first a mazy run and strike and the second forced over the line from close range. Ian Wagstaff scored Tamworth’s fourth from the penalty spot with just seconds left but Tamworth ran out of time on finding a fifth goal. |
