Match Report | Tamworth went out strong with the intent on beating Lichfield who have not lost a game all season. Tamworth started the stronger team and got Lichfield rattled. In defence Gemma Rowe and sister Charley Rowe passed the ball around well to support the attack. The first goal came when lovely team play saw Alex Burns pass round the keeper for Steph Lawrence to score. Scoring left Tamworth vulnerable, Lichfield applied the pressure and equalised soon after. Going into the second half it was Tamworth who went ahead again after a superb short corner strike from Gemma Rowe. Again Tamworth let their guard down and Lichfield equalised. With 10 minutes to go and both teams looking for a goal it was Tamworth that looked victorious, after great build up play from Helen Day and Jo Goode saw Steph Lawrence convert her second of the game with a reverse stick flick over the keeper. Tamworth thought they were victorious but one last effort from Lichfield saw their attempt trickle over the line for the equaliser. |
