Match Report | Tamworth Men's 2nd team showed their relegation rivals just what they were made of this weekend, after destroying fourth placed Droitwich in a super stylish performance. Tamworth started the game by putting immense pressure on the Droitwich defence and it was no time before Dave Belson opened the scoring with a clever finish. Goals soon followed from Jez Holloway, from a short corner strike, and Nick Rammell. Droitwich barely troubled the Tamworth defence who as Keith Rourke, Nick Pound and Simon Bowyer mopped up every hint of attack. The opposition did however get lucky after a short corner was awarded and they converted with the second attempt to make it 3-1. However, it was a matter of seconds before Tamorth extended their lead once more with a wonder goal from Graham Cook who slotted past the goalkeeper after beating at least five players. In the second half further goals came from Ben Popple and Kevin Guest before Belson and Holloway added to their tallies with another goal a piece. It was minutes before time when Droitwich grabbed a alate consolation, but it was Tamworth's day and the win will have league opponents worried as Tamworth look to cement their place in the division for another season. Man of the match Jez Holloway. |
