Match Report | Tamworth Mens 2’s gained a crucial victory vs Telford & Wrekin this weekend to see them go top of the table at the half way staaire f the season in the bid to go back to back promotions.
Tamworth started the game well, creating some good early chances through James Goode, Jez Holloway and Ben Bowyer, against the run of the play Telford on the break, broke through the midfield and scored a neat reverse stick finish in the bottom corner to go 1-0 up.
Tamworth rallied very well and produced a superb 15 minute spell at the end of the first half, Jez Holloway the provider and Dave Belson tucked away neatly after some good stickwork to make it 1-1. Superb wing play involving Holloway and Ben Bowyer resulted in Bowyer reaching the by-line to fire back a neat pass and Belson ran on to this and struck it first time on the turn firing it in to the bottom corner and the home side were 2-1 ahead.
Only 5 minutes later, another good bit of wing play on the right with Bowyer and Holloway involved again, seeing Holloway gain his 2nd assist with Belson finding the corner from the top of the D, this his hattrick, and a Man of the Match performance.
The 2nd half was played out with no further goals, Telford coming close to make it a nervy finish, and had a goal ruled out correctly. The damage was done in that 15 minute spell and Tamworth took all 3 points to see the sit top of the table.
