Match Report | Tamworth took to the pitch on a beautifully sunny day full of optimism against an experienced and well organised Stafford line-up. With new member Helen Le Grand making her Tamworth debut and several regular players making their first appearances of the season it was always going to be a tough game. The home team settled well initially into the new formation but gradually came under pressure. Some fine defending by full backs Hutchins, Bravington and Lunty kept Stafford at bay, whilst Deb Oxley playing her second game of the day made some great saves. A goal mouth melee put the visitors ahead and they went on to capitalise again from a period of pressure. Not to be disheartened Tamworth continued to show a great attitude and this paid off as opportunities began to appear. Some great passing between Kaur and Milner created chances to test the Stafford defence and West just missed out on a chance to convert a well worked short corner. Starting the second half temporarily with 10 players Town hit the post as they tried to fight their way back into the game. However as the game neared the end Tamworth tired, letting their guard down and conceding 3 quick goals.
Another great effort from a new, inexperienced line up which, despite the result, show real promise for the rest of the season.
