Match Report | Ludlow 7 - 0 Tamworth Ladies 3rd XI
Tamworth 3rds headed off to their first league game of the season with a new look team full of optimism . Unfortunately, a motorway breakdown meant that the team played with 10 players and a positional reshuffle was in order. Faced with the 15-strong squad of Ludlow it was always going to be an uphill battle, Despite conceding two early goals in the first half, Tamworth fought throughout the entire game, demonstrating an outstanding attitude and managing some excellent displays of passing at times. However, without the extra player it was difficult to make the final pass count. As the first half progressed Tamworth settled down and began to encroach into the opposition territory, managing to force a short corner. But it was not to be and gradually the youth and organisation of the skilled Ludlow squad shone through and, as legs got tired, Tamworth couldn't keep out the tenacious opposition attack. There were some excellent performances, notably from Courtney Bravington - Moore in defence, Tamworth's player of the match, Wendy Garrett playing at centre back in her first game for two seasons and of course Margaret Worsley, our own pocket rocket GK. Tamworth should not be disheartened against a team that wouldn't look out of place in a higher league. There were plenty of positives to draw upon for the rest of the season. Big thanks to everyone that drove to what is our furthest away match ever!
