Match Report |
The ladies seconds returned to winning ways as they beat Telford 3-0 on Saturday. Tamworth made a bright start to the game taking the lead after only 4 minutes, Danielle Hill won a short corner following some attacking play down the right flank from Beth Wright and Paula Cooper, Claire Miles dispatched the corner with a sweet strike into the corner. The town side continued to press forward moving the ball quickly as they caused the Telford defence all sorts of problems and with a little more composure in front of goal more goals should have been scored. Tamworth's defence had to stay alert as Telford's youthful attack was very dangerous on the break with GK Lisa Moore called into action to make some important saves before the home side scored their second, Fiona Sinclair reacting quickly to the Telford GK's initial save to slot home. Danielle Hill added a third just before half time following another fine move down the right flank to send Tamworth into the break 3-0 up.
The second session saw the town side look to add to their score with Elaine Foxley having a good game in midfield finding pockets of space to set up a number of attacks with Anne Marshall and Beth Wright working hard down the flanks, disappointingly for the town they couldn't find the back of the net with Gemma Bradshaw seeing her shot superbly saved and Miles hitting the post the closest they came to scoring. But the points were secured in the first half seeing the town side moved up to third in the table.
