Match Report | A doubleheader weekend for the ladies seconds saw them face table topping Cannock on Saturday and stone on Sunday. Saturdays game was a tough encounter for the town side against high flying Cannock who haven't lost a game all season, it was Cannock who started the game brightly as they pinned Tamworth back in their own half, with their back line of Jess Thacker, Gemma Bradshaw, Clare Phillips, Sam Bowyer and Jane Escombe working incredibly hard to keep the Cannock forwards at bay alongside GK Lisa Moore who made some vital saves. Tamworth's front line worked hard to find space but the Cannock defence made it incredibly difficult to give them any service, with the pressure finally telling Cannock scored two goals to go into the break 2-0 up. The town side had a more competitive second half as they kept possession better and mounted attacks of their own as they broke through cannocks defensive lines with their GK called into action making a couple of good saves, but it was the away side who added two more goals to their tally to go 4-0 up late in the half, with Gemma Bradshaw scoring a consolation goal for the home team with the last hit of the game.
