Match Report |
Tamworth seconds came away with a hard fought draw against a much improved North staffs side on Saturday. It was staffs who made the stronger start as they pinned the town side back in their own half, but the towns defensive quartet of Kate Caddick, Sam Bowyer, Clare Phillips and Jane Escombe made some excellent tackles and clearances alongside GK Lisa Moore who also made some super saves to keep them at bay. Tamworth grew into the game as they enjoyed some possession and created a few chances of their own, Fiona Sinclair almost scored for the town with an excellent shot from the top of the 'D' forcing the staffs GK into a diving save, but a fine individual goal gave staffs the lead going into the break.
Tamworth had a much better second half showing more intensity, with the towns midfield more composed on the ball as they kept possession, Claire Miles had a couple of opportunities following good work from Di Milner and Jo Goode but failed to connect. The towns equaliser came midway through the half a move started at the back found Jo Goode whose strong run and shot was superbly deflected over the GK by Danielle Hill. The rest of the half both sides tried to find the winner and a last minute double save by Lisa Moore kept the scores level, with the sides sharing the spoils.
