A goal in the final two minutes salvaged a point for Tamworth in this away fixture against Leek on Saturday.
The town side started the game positively winning a short corner in the opening minutes, although the routine didn't go to plan, Paula Cooper was backing up and her neat pass found Claire Miles who fired home to give Tamworth the lead. The town side looked to add to their score with Anne Marshall, Jo Goode and Cooper creating problems down the flanks for the leek defence putting in a number of super crosses unfortunately Tamworth were unable to connect to add to their score. At the other end leek looked dangerous on the break with GK Lisa Moore called into action to make some super saves. Leek hit the post before equalising with a scrappy goal to go into the break all square.
The second half was a more even affair with both sides struggling to keep any meaningful possession at times, with the town side not at their fluent best not many clear cut chances were created. Elaine Foxley went closest for Tamworth and was unlucky to see her shot hit the post before Leek took the lead from a short corner. Tamworth continued to work hard to find the equaliser and with only two minutes left they were awarded a short corner which saw Foxley and Miles combine for Miles to fire home her second of the game to give Tamworth a well earned draw.
PoM shared between Anne Marshall and Jo Goode
