Match Report | Tamworth suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss on Saturday to phoenix blues, although the town side dominated the play for long periods with some excellent build up play unfortunately the final pass went astray too often and when they did put some moves together the phoenix GK was in good form making a number of super saves. Phoenix took the lead against the run of play when the town side lost possession phoenix capitalised and attacked quickly with their striker scoring a well taken goal. Tamworth should have equalised on the stroke of half time when Elaine Foxley and Claire Miles combined well to set up Miles with an easy tap in only for her to put her shot wide. The second session again saw the town side enjoy plenty of possession, Paula cooper and Sarah Arnold both had good games with some super passes from defence and midfield setting up a number of good attacks but once again Tamworth couldn't find that all important goal and with another breakaway attack phoenix extended their lead and the town side found themselves 2-0 down. Tamworth continued to work hard forcing a number of short corners and from one of them they were awarded a penalty when a defender stopped a goal bound shot with their foot on the line, Claire Miles stepped up and scored for the town and although they continued to press forward they couldn't find the all important equaliser and the score remained 2-1 to phoenix blues.
