Match Report | The ladies 2s secured their third win of the season beating WATS 4-3 on Saturday. An early injury to captain Jane Escombe meant that the town side had to re-shuffle but they responded positively and enjoyed some excellent possession with their midfield quartet controlling the play. Paula Cooper stepped up into midfield and had a super game on the right flank setting up Tamworths first goal with a great cross that Elaine Foxley latched onto in style to give the town the lead. Player of the match Foxley was having a brilliant game with her movement and link up play causing the WATS defence all sorts of problems. Tamworth increased their lead when a fine run from Stevie Williams found Claire Miles unmarked in the 'D' who had time to pick her spot and fire home into the bottom corner to send the team 2-0 up at the break. The second session saw WATS come out strongly with Tamworth unable to keep possession as well as they had done in the first half, and WATs were rewarded with a goal. The town did settle and extended their lead Cooper again found Foxley down the right who made a brilliant run along the back line before crossing to Hannah Marshall to flick the ball past the GK. Marshall got her second soon after following a brilliant move, Jess Thacker who had been impressive hit a long pass to Foxley she linked up with Williams and Anne Marshall to cross for daughter Hannah who again finished in style giving Tamworth a commanding 4-1 lead. To WATS credit they hit back immediately scoring two quicks goals, with the town again giving up possession too easily making it a nervy end to the game but Tamworth held out for the win and three valuble points.
