Match Report | After a difficult start to the season the ladies 1s have bounced back winning their third game in a row beating Bridgenorth 3-1 on Saturday. Tamworth made a slow start to the game as they struggled to keep possession but it was the town side that took the lead against the run of play when Kirsty Brown scored from close range. Tamworth keeper Chloe Sullivan was having a good game as she made a number of excellent saves ably supported by defenders Jacqui Casey, Rachel Rowe and Michelle McManus who all made important tackles to keep their lead intact. The town side started to have better phases of play and a super move down the right flank saw Amie Bishop drive along the back line to find Fiona Sinclair at the back post to send Tamworth into the break 2-0 up. In the second session both sides had good periods of play with Kirsty Brown and Claire Miles both going close to adding to the towns score. As the game went on it became more stretched and Bridgenorth pulled a gaol back with about 10 minutes to go. But a quick counter attack saw Sinclair breakthrough Bridgenorths defence only to be denied by the keeper but the ball fell kindly to Miles who fired home to restore the towns two goal lead, Brown almost added a fourth with a brilliant deflection that hit the post in the last minute but the points were Tamworths.
