Match Report | Tamworth Development side sealed a superb away victory vs Stratford this weekend. Tamworth played a superb 1st half which saw wonderkid Olly Bowyer score what could be goal of the season after dribbling past 4 players in the D, and scoring a reverse stick lobbed strike to put the away side 1-0 to the good. He soon doubled his tally and Tamworth’s lead after a brilliant short corner strike finding the bottom corner. Stratford did grow in to the game throughout the half and scored on the break away to reduce the deficit. However Tamworth bounced back and after a great run and cross field pass from Cam Hunter, this was tapped in at the back post by George Lucas.
The 2nd half was a much tighter affair, whilst Tamworth held the ball for long periods and Cam Hunter and Olly Bowyer linking up well throughout, Stratford looked dangerous on the counter attack. Stratford did then late on strike another after a neat combination play to make it a nervy end to the match. Superb defending from Simon Gilbert and Tom Gilbert at the back led to Tamworth hanging on and taking a valuable 3 points.
Olly Bowyer grabbing a man of the match performance taking his total goals up to 14 for the season. |
