Match Report | Tamworth face Old Wulfs at home in a battle for promotion. In form team Old Wulfs started the game strongly vs another young Tamworth side, moving the ball well and showing the reason why they are topping the in-form stats in the league.
Tamworth were competitive and some really great performances from Cam Hunter & Olly Bowyer particularly standing out. Chances were limited while the possession fell mainly to Old Wulfs, Tamworth looking dangerous on the break though. The 1st half drew to a close at 0-0.
The second half Tamworth started to work more effectively as a team, and started to have the ball a bit higher up, then on the break Old Wulfs played a good counter attack and the centre forward powered home a thunderous strike into the roof of the net from the top of the D leaving the GK with no chance. Tamworth responded really well and played some of their best hockey after going 1-0 down, facing their first home defeat in 2 seasons! A string of short corner routines one after another left Tamworth looking dangerous and then Olly Bowyer struck home a powerful short corner strike to secure his 21st goal of the season, but his 1st in the league format as the crowd and team went wild to celebrate his success and the leveller.
After the equaliser, the game become quite frantic, with Old Wulfs pushing, and Tamworth looking dangerous on the break – the game ended in a fair 1-1 draw and leaves both teams still in with chances for promotion. |
