Match Report | Tamworth Men’s 2nds travelled away to Cannock this week with a much depleted side due to poor availability, this meaning an opportunity for Tamworth’s youngsters to step up to the plate. Without a normal Goalkeeper too, the task was an uphill one and early possession fell to Cannock who looked to probe and dominate the game. Some good defensive work from Gabe Hilton, Rob Busby in the heart if the defence limited opportunities though. Making their 1st senior appearance, Tom Gilbert, Elliot Nutter & Cam Hunter all putting in a really great shift and ran their heart out for the cause. After a few chances Cannock eventually struck through a one two short corner routine and fire past the stand in keeper Dave Belson to lead 1-0 at half time.
Tamworth proud of their first half efforts with the juniors doing so well, were much of the same in the 2nd half, creating limited chances to respond, Cannock continued to push for more and eventually extended their lead again through a neat short corner routine alongside a well worked move where they were face with a one on one which was tucked away neatly – this taking the score to 3-0.
A young side Tamworth though were delighted with the juniors contribution and ability to step in, and a great team effort with the line up presented. Tamworth drop to 4th and a potential back to back promotion seems an outside chance at this stage with just 3 games to go. |
