Match Report | Tamworth Mens 2nds lost their 100% home record against bottom of the league side Beacon as they stumble in their bid for promotion. Tamworth well below the standard they are capable of produced a poor first half performance where chances were at a premium and both Goalkeepers made fine saves to keep the game at 0-0.
The game looked to take a positive swing for the home side, as a build up of pressure and after a short corner led to Jez Holloway striking in to the bottom corner from the top of the D. Holloway had the chance to take it to 2-0 from a penalty flick, but his flick fired past the post. Tamworth again pushed and responded well to this set back and within minutes of this, the ball was played in Holloway who found the run of Dave Belson who drew the keeper out and flicked the ball into the bottom corner taking the home side 2-0 up.
The game was turned on its head though after some ill discipline from Tamworth, seeing the side reduced to 9 men. A re shuffle of the team left Tamworth exposed in the heart of the defence, and Beacon pushed, they had some good work on the wing as Tamworth were out of shape and position and struck back with a neat finish. In the dying moment of the game, Tamworth still struggling to find their composure were again undone in defence and the ball was scrambled in the back of the net – leaving the home side disappointed#, as the game restarted the final whistle blew and the game ended 2-2! |
