Tamworth 2nds made It 2 wins from 2 at home as they faced local rivals Lichfield 5ths.
It was a FOUR-midable performance by the home side who struck early in the 1st half with a nice assist for Nick Pound into James Whittaker who struck home, nutmegging the goalkeeper.
The match was quite a heated affair, resulting in a number of short corners for the home side and Tamworth further extended their lead through 2 Short Corner routines with Jez Holloway in commanding form notching his brace and Tamworth went in to half time at 3-0 up and looking comfortable.
The second half saw the game slow down a little bit and Lichfield pressed and thanks to good saves from Ethan Oxley in goal and 2 goal line clearances from Nick Pound the home sides clean sheet was preserved. Further breakaway chances for Tamworth occurred and yet again more short corner action, led to another Dave Belson, Jez Holloway one-two combination play leading to Holloway striking to seal his hattrick and gaining the man of the match. Overall a comfortable but crucial win for Tamworth. |
