Match Report |
Tamworths season started off in fantastic fashion with a win over Sikh Union.
Tamworth began with some strong possession play with good movement across the midfield and defence instigated by Andy MacManus and Carter Bradshaw.
Tamworth pushed forward and created many chances in the first half with newly returned Tom Hancox narrowly pushing wide and Zak Smalley being unable to covert some enticing through balls into the D.
However Tamworth continued to attack hard but were unable to break the deadlock, Sikh Union were also kept at bay by the strong defensive efforts of Joe Wood and Ian Wagstaff.
Half time 0-0
Tamworth pressed hard in the second half, eager to break the draw. Shortly after this a fantastic bit of play beginning from the defence, created an opening for Tom Hancox to open the scoring for Tamworth.
Sikh Union mounted a strong counter attack but the goalkeeping efforts of Ethan Oxley, accompanied by the solid defending of both Dylan Waldron and James Griffin, they were able to keep the score at 1-0.
Tamworth countered hard and were able to win a short corner which was calmly converted by Ian Wagstaff to double Tamworths lead to 2-0. Sikh Union pushed back and were able to bring the score to 2-1 adding further pressure to Tamworth.
Tamworth were determined not to concede further and some fierce battling and stong play by Zak Smalley lead to another counter attack from Tamworth. The ball was held in possession before a through ball to Tom Hancox once again was converted into a goal and put Tamworth further ahead at 3-1.
A strong performance in the first game of the season starts Tamworths campaign off perfectly.
