Match Report | On Sunday the seconds faced their third team in their second league game of the weekend. The twos started on the front foot as they dominated the play, Jo Goode returned from injury and she combined well with Paula Cooper down the right flank setting up a number of goal scoring opportunities, but the ladies third team defended superbly with Clare Phillips and Audrey Warburton in particular thwarting a number of chances with great tackles and clearances. The pressure finally told as the second team opened the scoring through Fiona Sinclair, then in a ten minute spell Jo Goode, Claire Miles and a second from Sinclair sent the seconds into the break 4-0 to the good. The ladies third team continued to work hard and battle for possession with Jess Thacker and Hannah Marshall orchestrating some good moves. The second team continued to look dangerous in attack but found GK Margaret Worsley in outstanding form as made countless brilliant saves to deny the twos forwards alongside Courtney bravington who cleared two shots off the line to deny Kirsty brown. Claire Miles scored a second half hat trick, the first a goalmouth scramble then two well worked short corners combining with Claire Hicks, miles then turned provider setting up Hicks to complete the scoring with the last hit of the game. A super game played in great spirit a credit to Tamworth hockey club. PoM thirds Courtney Bravington PoM seconds Claire Miles |
