Match Report | Tamworths rich vein of form which has seen them beat the top three teams in the league convincingly continued on Saturday as they beat phoenix blues 6-2. Once again the town side made a quick start going 2-0 up after only 8 minutes. Danielle Hill opened the scoring after only 3 minutes from a well worked short corner routine, Jo Goode's strike was brilliantly deflected into the top corner by Hill, Hill scored her second after 8 minutes when again she deflected Claire Miles short corner strike to give the GK no chance. The town side then took their foot off the gas a little allowing phoenix blues back into the game and were thankful to gK Lisa Moore who made a couple of brilliant saves to keep their lead in tact going into the break 2-0 up. Tamworth regrouped after the break and started to pass the ball around confidently again with Claire Miles and Elaine Foxley combining to set up Fiona Sinclair for an easy tap in. Phoenix blues hit back to make it 3-1 and enjoyed some good possession but the town defence held firm with another solid performance. A brilliant 5 minute spell saw Tamworth put the game out of sight as they hit three goals, Fiona Sinclair hit her second following up Miles short corner strike then Stevie Williams fired home before Hill completed her hattrick, a flowing move from inside their own half, a defence splitting pass found Beth Wright in space who drew the defender before passing to Hill who rounded the GK to slot home. A couple of injuries saw the town side play out the final 5 minutes with 10 players as phoenix scored a consolation goal with the last hit of the game but Tamworth ran out worthy winners keeping their promotion hopes alive.
