Match Report | Following a week's break Tamworth travelled to table topping North staffs on Saturday and inflicted a first defeat of the season on their opponents with another super performance. It was staffs who made the better start with the town side looking a little nervy at the back and with more clinical finishing staffs could have been two up in the opening 10 minutes. The town side did settle and although staffs enjoyed the greater share of possession Tamworth's defence were brilliant as they stopped every attack not giving away any goal scoring opportunities. Stevie Williams had an excellent game linking up well with Jo Goode as the town side forced the staffs GK into a number of good saves, but the score remained goalless at the break. The second session was all Tamworth as they dominated possession with some brilliant play forcing a number of short corners and from one of these Claire Miles shot was deflected past the GK, Stevie Williams added a second soon after, again with another shot that was deflected by a defenders stick to loop over the keeper. The town side were now in full control of the game as they pinned north staffs back in their own half, Jane escombe and Fiona Sinclair combined well down the left flank as they created a number of chances with Hannah Marshall taking up some fabulous positions in front of goal and was unlucky not to score as she saw her shots superbly saved by the GK. Tamworths third goal was a lovely flowing move as the ball was played out from the back to Danielle Hill who found Jo Goode to cross for Williams to fire home for her second of the game. The town side managed the final minutes of the game well not giving away possession to run out deserved winners.
