Match Report | Tamworth travelled to Bridgenorth on Saturday to face fellow early pace setters in their third league game of the season, coming away with a 3-1 win. The town side started brightly keeping possession well, but Bridgenorth grew into the game and with the sides evenly matched both teams created chances. Tamworth broke the deadlock when a Claire Miles shot was stopped illegally on the line by a defenders foot resulting in a penalty for the town side, Miles stepped up and converted to give Tamworth the lead. However the lead was short lived as Bridgenorth equalised to send the sides into the break all square. Tamworth had a really godd second half as their midfield dominated possession and started to exploit the gaps behind Bridgenorth's defence, Becky Moore scored the towns second with a brilliant deflection into the top corner from Kirsty Browns short corner strike. Becca Warburton sealed the win with a superb team goal that started from the back to find Beth Wright in space she passed to Kirsty Brown who slipped the ball to Warburton to chip the ball over the advancing keeper. The town side had a couple of good oppoutunities to increace their lead further but the opposition keeper saved well. A fabulous team performance that leaves the town sitting top of the table, with Tilly Bryan voted POM for an assured performance in the centre of midfield. |
