Match Report | The first of 2 Tamworth games this weekend started with the return fixture Vs Stafford. Tamworth won 5-2 in a previous visit and were hoping to do the same this time.
Tamworth pushed forward hard from the start and kept Stafford pinned back in their own half, some chances by Ben Bowyer and Ollie Gilbert unfortunately couldn't be converted. Stafford pushed on the break and against the run of play, opened the scoring to make it 1-0.
Tamworth countered fast as some strong play from both Andy MacManus and Elliot in midfield got Tamworth into the final third.
Shortly before half time Stafford took another chance and led into the break.
Half Time: 2-0
Tamworth began defensively in the second half as Stafford came out pushing for the win. Some strong defensive work from Ian Wagstaff and Simon Bowyer accompanied by key saves by Keeper James Miles was enough to deny Stafford taking a further lead for the time being.
Tamworth attacked on the break and after some strong attacking play from Midfield and forwards, Carter Bradshaw calmly slotted home his first goal of the season to potentially bring Tamworth back into the game at 2-1.
Stafford pushed back and took another chance to then make it 3-1. The Tamworth midfield had a strong showing with Elliot Birchall making yet another run and creating a few more chances for the forwards but unfortunately Tamworth could not continue the comeback. Stafford continued the attack and scored a fourth one for the game to end 4-1.
Final score: 4-1 Man of the match: Elliot Birchall |
