Match Report | Tamworth ladies over 45s faced Bowden ladies on Sunday in the club championships plate competition running out 5-1 winners sending them into the quarter finals. The town side took time to settle as Bowden enjoyed the better start putting the town defence under a lot of pressure in the opening 15 minutes, but their defence held strong with Vicky Butler making some fine saves and clearances. Somewhat against the run of play it was Tamworth who took the lead Amanda Trotter following up Rachel Rowe's short corner strike to slot home. This seemed to settle the town side as they started to keep the ball better enjoying more possession and another short corner saw the town increase their lead a slip to Sarah Arnold who fired home to make it 2-0. Bowden were still in this game and they pulled a goal back just before half time to make the score 2-1. In the second session Tamworth's midfield started to control the play passing the ball around with confidence although Bowden still looked dangerous at times the town's more clinical finishing sealed the win, Becky Wootton, Kate Caddick and Amanda Trotter all scoring in the second half to give the town a well deserved win. A fabulous performance with Tamworth now facing a trip to Yorkshire to play Aire valley ladies in the quarter final. |
