Match Report | Tamworth ladies second and third teams met for the second time this season for this return league fixture on Saturday with the ladies 2s running out 6-2 winners. The ladies seconds started the game brightly as they dominated possession but GK Lisa Moore made some good saves alongside defender Sam bowyer who was in superb form as they thwarted the seconds attacks. Pressure finally told as the seconds were awarded a penalty flick which was converted by Claire Miles, two further goals were added in quick succession by Tilly Bryan and Rebecca Warburton to give the 2s a commanding 3-0 lead. All credit to the ladies 3s as they enjoyed their best spell of the game and they were rewarded with a goal from Elaine Foxley with a brilliantly taken short corner strike to go into the break 3-1 down. Buoyed on by their late first half goal the ladies thirds started the second half really well causing the second team a lot of problems as they exploited the spaces in behind their defence with Chloe Sullivan making a couple of vital saves before Jess Thacker scored from another short corner to make the score 3-2. This seemed to spur the second team on as they regained control of the midfield with Beth Wright and Hannah Channing using their pace to great effect down the flanks. Amie Bishop scored twice with Kirsty Brown adding the final goal from a well worked short corner. Becky Moore had an excellent game but the player of the match award went to Sam Bowyer. |
