Match Report | Tamworth started brightly and created chances from both sides of the pitch with some great crosses coming into the D. It seemed it would only be a matter of time before Tamworth scored but a 5-minute period of madness that saw Tamworth standing still following a bizarre umpire decision which Wolves capitalized on and scored their first goal, followed minutes later when Tamworth were caught too high up the pitch and Wolves doubled their score on the break. Becky Moore on the left and Nadia Williams on the right and Issy Hounsome in the centre, ran freely, making some great passes but still Tamworth couldn’t convert the chances into goals. 2 nil down at half time Tamworth didn’t give up and finally scored from a short corner that Paula Cooper hit out sharply to Claire Miles who dinked it around the oncoming defender before slotting the ball to birthday girl, Jackie Casey who put the ball in at an angle past the keeper. 2 minutes later a carbon copy hit out from Cooper was struck first time by Miles to level the scores. Gemma Rayson did put the ball in the back of the net but the whistle blew for an infringement as the ball crossed the line and a short corner was given. Another break by Wolves made the score 2 3 with about 5 minutes to go. Lesley Broadway, defended incredibly cleanly, killing off further Wolves chances and Tamworth doggedly kept attacking and were rewarded with an equalizer after a goalmouth scramble that saw Miles hit the back of the net from short range. League player of the match was Rebecca Warburton with Hounsome winning players player. |
