Match Report | Tamworth ladies seconds played better than the final score suggests. Both teams started strongly but Leek, a young well-drilled team, played the ball around the pitch more confidently and scored early on the break. Claire Miles, who was not in the starting line-up came on after 10 minute and despite injury, careered kamikaze-like onto the pitch but lasted only a few minutes before having to retire. Tamworth worked hard for the rest of the half, with Claire Philips, defending in close, keeping out the danger and midfielders Alex Wylie and Nadia Williams leading the way, matching leek with pace and skill. Bea Pound had another strong game on the left and Rebecca Warburton had an excellent game up front scoring a brilliant goal high into the top of the net that was unbelievably ruled out by the Leek umpire for a foul after the ball went in the goal. Leek scored another 2 goals that Keeper Lisa Moore, who had played extremely well throughout the game, could not get close to. A penalty flick, awarded for a Tamworth foot stopping a goal made the final score 4 nil. League player of the match was Wylie.
