Tamworth Ladies 2nds totally dominated in this weeks away match at West Bromwich. from the whistle the town side mounted wave after wave of attacK on the home sides defence which crumbled in the tenth minute when Becky Maynard open the scoring deflecting the Ali Ocallaghan strike to convert a short corner. This sparked momentum and it wasn't long before Kate Barton, who gave a brilliant performance deftly put one past the keeper with a first time shot to take the lead to 2-0. This further inspired the team and play remained in the home sides end, Tamworth fought for every ball and Alison Ocallaghan showed great commitment with a diving shot and roll to beat the defence and secure the 3rd. Despite the lead Tamworth were hungry for another before the break and it came from a powerful strike from Sarah Arnold that was buried in the right hand corner well out of reach of the keeper. Tamworth keeper Vicky Butler made some important saves keeping a first half clean sheet that saw the score at 4-0 at the break.
The second half saw a few positional changes to the West Bromwich team who had regained some energy but Tamworth maintained the upper hand and attacks were quickly cut out by the midfield and defence and possession was largely with the Tamworth side. A quick series of one touch passes ended with Ali Ocallaghan who bagged the 5th putting away a straight ball from Paula Cooper in the 12 min. A skilful dribble from Stevie Oversby who had been integral to attacks throughout the match ended with a strike and the tally rose to 6-0. The Tamworth defence were caught a little high and a counter attack from the home side was rewarded with a consolation goal. The Tamworth side regrouped and was definitive in its response and it was Stevie Oversby who claimed the final goal to complete the score line, 7-1 to Tamworth. |
