Match Report | T Tamworth faced Berkswell and Balsall Common in the first round of the Tier 2 mixed Championships on Sunday coming away with a convincing 10-0 win. After a fairly even start the town side hit two quick fire goals from Ben Popple the second a brilliant deflection into the top corner from a Tom Hancox cross, this seemed to settle Tamworth and they went onto dominate the game, goals from Ross Dillon, Daniel Hutchins and Popple completing his hat trick saw the town go into the break with a commanding 5-0 lead. The second session followed a similar pattern with Tamworth controlling the play and enjoying the greater share of possession creating numerous goal scoring chances, Gemma Rowe hit the town’s sixth goal before Dillon and Hutchins both got their second of the game. Popple scored his fourth; GK James Miles was rarely called into action but pulled off a brilliant triple save to keep the clean sheet intact before Hancox completed the rout. Tamworth will now face Leominster in the next round in two weeks’ time. |
