Match Report

Going into the game stone were top of the league by one point from Tamworth. Both teams started strongly but Tamworth were playing a better passing game working the ball down the pitch with style. Alex Wylie and jo Goode combined well on the right with Fiona Ferguson and Rebecca warburton running well making the stone defence work hard.  Lucy plant used her pace well playing from the back and making incisive runs down the pitch. Nadia Williams had perhaps her best ever game for Tamworth chasing the ball down, tackling and then running with the ball creating opportunities for the forwards in the D. Claire miles and Kirsty Brown distributed the ball well in midfield not giving stone any time on the ball. Leah ward Sarah Hutchins and Paula cooper all made important tackles in defence over the course of the game with hutch saving off the line when stone managed to get around the defence and the excellent keeping of Nikki Youngman.

No score at half time Tamworth continued to push with Alex Gayton running freely and 5 minutes into the second half she took the ball to the back line, pulled it back to Ferguson on the penalty spot who deftly passed to Brown positioned brilliantly on the post who scored what would be the only goal of the match.

A great team performance by all Tamworth are now top of the league going into the second half of the season. Wylie was voted league player of the match with Williams being awarded players player.
