Match Report | League fixtures resuming after the Christmas break and Tamworth travel to Kettering. Tamworth took a while to settle into the game as we played a different formation as there were new players in the team, the pitch was very bouncy and it was very windy. It was a very even game, Jacqui Casey and Becky Moore working hard down the left side both sides were making errors where the ball was intercepted and throughout the first half there was the one short corner for Tamworth. In The second half Connie wain Tamworth’s goal keeper made some vital saves with Sarah Arnold clearing the ball out to keep a clean sheet. Michelle McManus and Charley Rowe played well in centre of midfield and worked well with Eden Collier, Nadia Williams and Gemma Rowe. Stevie Williams, Steph Wagstaff and Claire Miles worked back on a number of occasions to help with the Kettering overload. Tamworth kept their composure and kept battling and were awarded their second short corner, Gemma Rowe did a curved run and struck the ball, it hit a defenders foot and went into the goal. Tamworth remained strong and came away with 3 points, remaining second in the league and play top of the league Repton next week. |
