Match Report | What a performance. Tamworth were at home to top of the league this week and the team were up for ‘parking the bus’ and damage limitation was the key! However Tamworth started strong and positive and had equal amounts of possession. Repton were quick on the attack but Tamworth held their ground frustrating the young repton squad but their first goal came after 20 minutes. Tamworth regrouped, passed the ball well and the equalising goal went from Jess barker to Gemma Rowe to Stevie Williams in the ‘d’ , Stevie had a shot , the keeper deflected it into the path of Claire hicks who put it away. Half time 1-1. Tamworth remained focused and disciplined throughout the second half and repton were becoming more and more frustrated with each other. Tamworth were communicating well, stepping to the ball and supporting each other. Reptons second goal came from open play. Tamworth were very determined to keep on the attack and were awarded with a couple of short corners. The first corner saw a Tamworth player body checked which led to another short corner, the Ball was delivered and struck by Stevie Williams wide of the goal where Rachel Rowe reverse stick deflected into the goal to make it 2-2. For the remaining 10 minutes Tamworth defended from the front and achieved the one point for the draw. It was a fabulous team performance everyone giving 110%. |
