Match Report | Tamworth Men's First XI drew 3-3 away to bottom placed Bournville as they remain scrapping to avoid relegation. Tamworth were looking to build on improved performances in recent weeks and get a much needed win however they were frustrated in a closely contested game. Tamworth started poorly as they struggled to pick up runners from midfield and found themselves two goals down midway through the half. In the latter stages of the half they finally began to apply some pressure with a series of penalty corners before Ryan Brisco gave Town a lifeline when he took a quick free hit, weaved his way across the top of the D before striking powerfully across goal into the bottom left corner. Tamworth looked much more confident in the second half and scored a deserved equaliser with another solo goal, with Ben Popple breaking into the left of the D and smashing a reverse stick shot into the top right hand corner. This should have been the platform for the visitors to go and win the game but a neatly deflected goal from Bournville restored their lead. Tamworth looked to be running out of ideas as Ian Wagstaff went close from a penalty corner but Brisco was on hand again, this time stealing in to score from close range when a rebound dropped kindly for him to level the game. Tamworth have one more chance at home to Aldridge next week to get some more points on the board before the Christmas break in another game against a bottom half opponent. |
