Match Report | Tamworth Men's First XI were left still searching for their first points of the season as they were beaten 3-0 at home to Stafford in their second game of the season. Tamworth got off to the worst possible start as a misplaced pass by Graeme Cook allowed Stafford to break through 2 on 1 against helpless keeper James Miles to take an early lead. Town were still missing a handful of first team players for this fixture but were down to the bare eleven soon after the goal when Tom Sperrink pulled up injured. Town fought hard to get back in the game but were not moving the ball fluently enough and Tom Hancox was left isolated at times. Stafford were having much of the ball and dominating territory although Town did carve out a couple of half chances with Hancox having a shot from the right of the D saved and Ben Thacker striking the side netting with a reverse stick strike. Unfortunately it was Stafford who made their dominance count striking a second before half time. After the break the game followed a similar pattern, with Connor Diggens attempting to carve out chances but mainly it was Tamworth's defence under pressure for much of the game. Stafford found a third goal midway through the half and although Town worked hard it was in vain in a game which petered out in the latter stages. Tamworth will look to kick start their season when they travel to Khalsa Leamington on Saturday. |
