Match Report | Tamworth travelled the short distance to Whittington Barracks for the match against Lichfield 6s. Fielding another new combination of players the town side started brightly with some excellent passing moves creating numerous chances. Elaine Foxley opened the scoring by beating a couple of players before slotting past the keeper. Her second came shortly afterwards from a short corner which the keeper nearly saved. Lichfield managed to pull a goal back catching Tamworth out on the break making the score 2-1, this remained the score until half time. In the second half Tamworth continued to attack with excellent play from the juniors alongside Kate Caddick and Lesley Broadway who controlled the play, Foxley notched up her hat trick with a great shot from a tight angle. Lichfield had a few attacks of their own but they were ably dealt with by the defence. The goals kept coming for Tamworth with a fourth scored by Jess Thacker confidently tapping in at the far post from a great cross. A fifth was converted by Meg Hogben from a powerful cross from Jo Bryan and a sixth from the very last play of the game with Sam Bowyer hitting a powerful strike at a short corner.
