Match Report | Tamworth travelled away to face a young opposition. Tamworth didn’t start too well, Cannock being young were first to the ball and pressurised the Tamworth player on the ball, which at times the ball got turned over too easily causing undue pressure. Tamworth did have a few periods of possession and created a few chances. Jess Barker and Gemma Rowe worked tirelessly in midfield, Gemma took on a few players had a shot on goal that was intercepted but the ball landed in the possession of Stevie Williams who battled with a couple of Cannocks defenders but slotted it home for the first goal. Cannock reacted with two goals in succession. Cannocks goalkeeper made a fantastic top corner save from Stevie to deny us the equaliser before half time. Tamworth started more positively but as in other games Tamworth seem to get penalised for fouls that our opposition are also rife at producing. However, Tamworth battling on were awarded a short corner which went short to Gemma Rowe who fired it towards goal which got a deflection off a cannock defender. The game was end to end but in the last 10 minutes Tamworth produced the best team move of the day, Charley Rowe to Michelle McManus to Fiona Wylie to Claire Hicks straight down the line to Stevie into Gemma who struck and went in the top right hand corner to make it 3-2 another 3 points to remain 2nd in the league. |
