Match Report | The ladies thirds made the long journey to Leek on Saturday for their first league game of the season. The town side took a mixture of youth and experience with 13 year old Bea Pound making her third team debut, Tamworth made a bright start with some great passing creating a couple of chances before Tilly Bryan scored a cracking goal following some excellent play from Bea Pound. The second half started in blistering heat with the town again creating some fantastic opportunities with Bea Pound and Tilly Bryan working tirelessly. Leek created a couple of short corner chances and unfortunately after some great defending the ball ricocheted off Audrey Warburton stick and flew into the top corner. Tamworth continued to press forward but were unable to add to their score and the game ended all square. Some fine defending from Jo Bryan, Sophie Marshall, Wendy Garrett and Audrey Warburton. Lisa Moore had a great day in goal and midfield maestro Sam Bowyer ran around so much she got blisters. POM Bea Pound |
