Match Report | Tamworth kept their chase for promotion on track with this vital win against league opponents Pershore. It was Pershore who showed the early signs of attack though and soon found themselves two goals up after twice find themselves in the D and able to fire off quick shots. Tamworth responded well though and it was Simon Bowyer's strike from a short corner which brought Tamworth back into the game before the break. In the second period Tamworth responded superbly and youngster Callum Taylor reacted quickest and nimbly slotted past the goalkeeper to equalise straight after the break. It was Tamworth's game to win from here and they finally took the lead after a clever short corner routine between Bowyer and Holloway left Bowyer with a clean strike from six yards out which he cooly converted. It was Bowyer's day as he completed his hat-trick from yet another short corner, after seeing the first strike saved he was quickest to react to smash home on his second attempt. Tamworth will also be boosted by excellent performances from youngsters Dillan Waldron and Andy Jenkins, who on his debut for the second team, had an excellent second half. Tamworth now face Ludlow away before tough top of the lague clashes against West Brom and Leamington respectively. |
