Match Report | Tamworth eventually ran out convincing winners against bottom of the table Uttoxeter on Saturday. After a dismal first half performance in which the town side struggled to string together any passess, they finally showed what they were capable of in the second session as they ran Uttoxeter ragged with their quick passing. Tamworth were lucky to take a slender 3-2 lead into the break and were thankful to Lisa Moore who had an exceptional game in defence for making a number of timely tackles and clearances to keep the Uttoxeter forwards at bay, Tamworth's goals came from Di Milner, Elaine Foxley and Kirsty Wright. A stern half time talk from Captain Lesley Broadway spurred the town side into action as they started to pass the ball around with more purpose, the turning point coming with the towns fourth goal a slick move between Bethan Gilbert and Claire Miles set Di Milner free who slotted the ball home in style, the town side went on to enjoy their best spell of the game scoring at will as they tore Uttoxeter apart with skillful hockey Kirsty Wright completed her hat-trick with Elaine Foxley getting her second of the game and Claire Miles(2) and Anne Marshall completing the rout. Uttoxter scored two more times but the game was already lost. Alex Thompson made a fine debut for the club, with Kirsty Wright voted team POM and Elaine Foxley the league POM. |
