Match Report | Following three straight league defeats the ladies thirds returned to winning ways on Saturday as they beat Dudley in a closely fought game. Despite only fielding 10 players due to illness and injury the town side made a positive start and dominated the early stages. Tamworth’s early pressure paid off as Lou Collett finished an excellent move with a superb strike to give the town the lead. Dudley equalised following some sustained pressure of their own but Tamworth hit back quickly when Elaine Foxley forced the ball home following a goal mouth scramble to go into the break 2-1 up. Tamworth continued to play well in the second session and increased their lead through Kate Barton who scored from a tight angle, but as the town side tired Dudley took advantage of their extra player and started to enjoy more possession reducing the towns lead. The town side relied more on break away attacks as they soaked up Dudley’s increased pressure, Di Milner scored Tamworth’s fourth before Dudley scored their third to make the last 10 minutes very tense as Tamworth held on for a well-deserved win.
